How to do it
- 1Straddle the belt, start it slow, then step on.
- 2Walk tall — eyes forward, shoulders relaxed.
- 3Let the arms swing naturally; hold the rails only to steady yourself.
- 4Build up to your target speed over the first minute.
- 5Slow down for the last 1–2 minutes before stepping off.
Tip
You should be able to talk in full sentences at this pace.
Avoid
Leaning on the handrails the whole time.

- Easy, joint-friendly cardio you can do every day — adds steps, helps recovery, and burns energy without eating into lifting.
- Breathing
- Relaxed nose or mouth breathing; you should be able to chat.
- Tempo
- Steady pace the whole time · 1 min build-up · 1–2 min cool-down.
Be careful
- Clip the safety key to your clothing.
- Start the belt before stepping on; step off only once it stops.
- Stop if you feel dizzy, chest pain, or unusual breathlessness.
Common mistakes
- Gripping the rails the whole time
- Looking down at your feet
- Walking too close to the front
