How to do it
- 1Hold dumbbells in front of the thighs.
- 2Raise one or both arms forward to about shoulder height.
- 3Lower slowly.
Avoid
Leaning backward.
Coaching notes
- Why do it
- Emphasizes the front delts — keep the torso still.
- Breathing
- Exhale raise · inhale lower.
- Tempo
- Controlled to shoulder height · slow lower.
Be careful
- Don't lean back to lift the weight.
- Avoid locking the elbows fully straight.
- Alternate arms if bilateral feels unstable.
Common mistakes
- Leaning backward
- Swinging from the hips
- Going way above head height
